The first few weeks after the Thrift Store has reopened there is still much work to do. While the doors were closed we still had donations coming in and now have lots of clothes to hang and sort and situate. The UMW from Crossroads UMC have committed to the first Tuesday of the month to come in a volunteer in several places around the UMNC including the Thrift store and food pantry. Thank you Ladies long term commitments to service help to keep our doors open and help communities. On Saturday April 15th St. Paul’s UMC confirmation class and their mentors came to help in Christ’s Closet as an outreach project. They hung and sorted and worked the cash register. Much to Ms. Mattie, our Thrift Store manger’s, delight the garage is beginning to get sorted out and ready to sell in the store. We were able to share clothing donated to the Thrift Store with St. Mathews Church for their Annual Yard sale. We would like to encourage other UMC’s to think about our storehouse of clothes and items that they might be able to include in their yard sale to support the church or their own clothes closet. All of the proceeds from our Thrift Store go to our Utilities and Rent assistance program.
